Santa Barbara has a rich history of outdoor festivals celebrating various cultures.  Through the years, in addition to Old Spanish days there has been the Greek Festival, the Italian Festival, Jamaican Festival and so many more.  In 1988 long time Santa Barbara resident and Francophile, Steve Hogerman, turned his passion for all things French into the Santa Barbara French Festival.  Incorporating food, entertainment, arts and French themed vendors the Festival has grown to be one of the largest of the Santa Barbara cultural festivals.

The Live Oak Music Festival is held at Live Oak Camp, about twenty minutes northwest of Santa Barbara. Nestled in the river valley that feeds Cachuma Lake, the site is filled with old oaks that provide restful shade and pristine beauty.

The temperate climate, the shady oaks, the early summer setting, and the slow-moving pace create a pastoral backdrop for relaxing and listening to great music with family and friends. It's hard to imagine a better way to kick off the lazy days of summer.

92nd Old Spanish Day’s Fiesta in Santa Barbara

This year marks the 92nd anniversary of the Fiesta Historical Parade. It is unique to Santa Barbara and features floats depicting episodes from the history of the state and city. Descendants of local Native Americans, Spanish Pioneers, the Native Sons and Daughters of the Golden West, and local service clubs and organizations all reenact historical scenes. It is one of the nation’s largest equestrian parades, featuring over 600 horses, as well as many antique carriages, coaches and wagons. The parade starts at the west end of Cabrillo Boulevard, proceeds east along the beach to State Street, then up State Street to Sola Street.

The theme for the 2016 parade is “Legends”.  All over the world there are extraordinary and fantastical stories that were once believed to be true but have been relegated to the realm of legend.  These legends often involve magical, mysterious creatures such as “Nessie” and “Big Foot”, or super human beings such as Robin Hood and King Arthur or mystical lands such as Atlantis, El Dorado, Camelot and Shangri-La. And of course, there are urban legends, musical legends and Hollywood legends.  This is sure to be a legendary parade that will reignite your imagination and wonder.

Join us in celebrating the avocado at the 29th Annual California Avocado Festival, October 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 2015!

CELEBRATE THE AVOCADO!!!
We are one of the largest FREE festivals in California with over 75 music acts on FOUR stages. We will not disappoint this year!!  Check out our “Stages” tab for more info and line-up updates! You can also find them on our Facebook Page in late August.

Come celebrate the importance of the avocado to the Carpinteria Valley by visiting the Expo Tent! The AvoEXPO TENT is home to Avocado agricultural photos, historical photos, lessons in avocado grafting, FFA restored antique tractors, and the Largest Avocado Contest.

The festival is also home to the WORLD’S LARGEST Vat of Guacamole!  Our FOOD VENUE, that has plenty of avocado dishes, can be found on the 800 Block of Linden.  Come hungry, and enjoy some avocado creations!!!

Our ARTS & CRAFTS Venue on Linden’s 600 block and COMMERCIAL MARKETPLACE at the 900 and 700 Blocks on Linden Avenue are open for your enjoyment all three days of the festival!  You and your family can also head to 7th Street for the CHILDREN’S VENUE, where there will be lots of fun games, face painting, and bouncers!

Don’t miss the Best Guacamole contest and Avocado Auction, Sunday at the Guac and Grotto Stage on 8th Street!

Each year the Santa Barbara French Festival returns to Oak Park to celebrate Bastille Day and all the things that make the French cultural history so rich.  Great food, wine, mimosas, crepes, delicious pastries,  music, dance, -- and, of course, the infamous Poodles & Pals Parade and Femme Fatales Drag Revue!  It is a community event not to be missed.  It's a Dance Festival, a Music Festival, an Arts, Crafts and Travel Festival and, of course, a Food Festival. Each day the fun starts at 11:00 am when the entertainment kicks off on three different stages and continues non-stop until 7:00 pm, all in the beautiful setting of Santa Barbara's Oak Park.  It's the perfect weekend date or family outing.  It is also a fun way to support Center Stage Theater and Speaking of Stories, two great Santa Barbara non-profits.

This year’s Parade on June 20th will be the 41st Anniversary of the Solstice Parade.

The theme for 2015 is “Sci Fi”.  The Summer Solstice Parade features more than 1,000 parade participants, complete with extravagant floats, whimsical costumes and creatively choreographed dancing ensembles. From its beginnings as a small parade featuring street artists, the Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration is now the premier Santa Barbara County arts event, drawing crowds of over 100,000 spectators from around the world.

The parasol girls will be at their booth in Alameda Park at the following times:

Friday   June 19   Festival 4 - 9 pm, Alameda Park
Saturday June 20 Parade - Noon, State and Cota
Saturday June 20 Festival - Noon - 8 pm, Alameda Park

84th Annual Children's Parade

The charming Children's Parade is organized by the City Parks and Recreation Department. Young people of Santa Barbara, their parents, and other parade participants don traditional costumes and celebrate the rich culture of the area. Parade proceeds down State Street, from Victoria Street to Ortega Street. Viewing the parade is free.

Whether just spectating or participating in the parade, look for the parasol girls here if you or any of tus hijos desire a fashionable sun shade for the events!

Fiesta Historical Parade!

The Fiesta Historical Parade is one of the largest equestrian parades in the United States. The parade starts at the west end of Cabrillo Boulevard, proceeds east along the beach to State Street, then up State Street to Sola Street. 

The parasol girls will be walking State Street along this route looking for anyone in need of a stylish sun shade- keep an eye out for them and grab one of their parasols for some much needed relief from the afternoon sun!
